Blues 22 – 16 British and Irish Lions
The British and Irish Lions suffered the first defeat of their tour of New Zealand after a late try by Ihaia West.
Having struggled to get a good win in their opening game there was great hope of a better showing against sterner opposition.
The Blues had different ideas and the well drilled outfit always looked a threat.
An early try by CJ Stander, converted by Leigh Halfpenny had put the Lions in front but the handling skills of the Blues, and in particular Sonny Bill Williams, gave the Kiwi centre a try to take his team into the interval in the lead.
Halfpenny’s boot put the tourists back in front but then in the final few minutes West broke away to break the Lions hearts.
